Hello, everyone. I'm Doctor Penn, and I'd like to share with you how I became a veterinarian and what led me down this path.

Before becoming a veterinarian, Dr. Wendy Patterson spent almost 20 years working in the fields of human resources and business management. During that same period, she also owned an Arabian horse farm and bred and showed her horses.

Hello! I’m Dr. Brooke Hoppe, and I joined Horizon Animal Hospital in March 2025. I was born in Houston, Texas, but grew up in Littleton, Colorado.

Dr. Scoppettone was born and raised in Mooresville, North Carolina, where he spent much of his childhood exploring the forests and enjoying time on Lake Norman. In 2000, he moved to Arizona and later earned his Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science from the University of Arizona.

Born and raised on a dairy farm in the beautiful state of Michigan, Dr. Deb Scharrer discovered early on a deep appreciation for animals and the people who care for them.

Dr. Carey is originally from Florida and spent her childhood on farms in North Florida and South Georgia, where her deep compassion for animals first began to grow.

Jennifer is the Hospital Administrator at Horizon Ani

Tammy joined Horizon Animal Hospital in 2016 as the hospital manager. She was born and raised in New York and loves the NY Yankees! She has been a licensed veterinary technician since 1994.

Maple is a calm and comforting presence in our clinic, bringing a sense of ease to everyone she meets. She enjoys a relaxed routine filled with naps, quiet observation, and the occasional head scratch from staff.

Devin was born in Riverside, California, and has lived in several places throughout the western United States, including Arizona, Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming. Although Arizona has been home for nearly 20 years, Idaho remains her favorite place she has lived.

Andrea has been a part of the Horizon AH team since 2008 (first as a boarding attendant, then technician assistant, and finally a certified licensed vet tech) during which she went to school and received her CVT license in 2011.

Shea was born and raised in Mesa, Arizona. While Shea was in high school she attended the East Valley Institute of Technology for her veterinary assistant certificate.

My name is Emma! I graduated from PMI’s VT program in 2024, and became a CVT that same year. Caring for animals has always been important to me.

Savannah is a Certified Veterinary Technician who has been working in the field since earning her degree from Pima Medical Institute and obtaining her CVT license in 2016.

Hi! I’m Tynesha, and I was born and raised right here in Phoenix, Arizona. I’ve loved animals for as long as I can remember, which inspired me to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.

Carlos was born in Miami, Florida, raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, and moved to Arizona when he was 17 years old.

Alison was born and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona. She attended Northern Arizona University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences.

Born in Flagstaff and raised in a military family, Aurora has called many places home, including Arizona, Hawaii, California, Texas, and Virginia.

My name is Ian and I was born and raised in Mountain View, California. My family and I moved to Arizona when I was 12, and it’s been home ever since.

Jennifer brings over 20 years of experience in the veterinary field and has dedicated her career to providing compassionate, high-quality care to animals and their families.

Joann has been in the Veterinary field for many years. She started her career in the veterinary industry in Ohio as an assistant. She then moved to Michigan where she worked as a veterinary receptionist and as a veterinary technician.

I was born and raised in Payson, Arizona.

Brooke was born and raised in Delaware and began her animal care career working with her county’s mounted patrol unit, along with serving as a therapeutic riding instructor through the TROT program.

Katie has lived in Arizona since 2011. During her free time, she enjoys swimming and hiking. Katie and her boyfriend share the love of their two dogs Marco and Bones.

Laura was born and raised in Gary, Indiana. Although she didn’t grow up with many animals, her love for them grew quickly after bringing home her first pup. That experience sparked a passion to learn everything she could about dogs and their behavior.

Ogunde is a member of the team at Horizon Animal Hospital in Scottsdale, Arizona. Originally from Gary, Indiana, also known as the hometown of Michael Jackson, Ogunde recently moved to Arizona and is excited to be part of the Horizon team.
