About Us
Horizon Animal Hospital was founded in 1997 by Dr. Beth Hareski who passed on ownership to two veterinarians, Dr. Sean Penn and Dr. Wendy Patterson, both of whom had worked at Horizon for a decade. This private, non-corporate ownership allows for a truly family-oriented culture. This culture encompasses mental wellness and life-work balance as necessities for our employees. As a component of this, we require clients to sign a code of conduct agreement to show our commitment to supporting our staff from disgruntled and abusive clients. We are closed on all major holidays and Sundays. A typical workweek involves four 9-10 hour shifts. This schedule provides for plenty of time away from work to enjoy family, friends, and other activities. In line with not providing a “cookie cutter” corporate approach to veterinary care, we are committed to meaningful collaboration with clients for optimized individualized patient care.
Our veterinary team is led by a certified canine/feline diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, who along with our other doctors enjoys active mentorship in our collaborative team approach. Most importantly, a dedicated talented support staff makes sure an adequate veterinarian-to-support staff ratio is in place to allow for our veterinarians to concentrate on doctoring (ie diagnosing, prescribing, and doing surgery).
Our spacious hospital has a beautiful lobby, five regular exam rooms, and one comfort room for euthanasia procedures. The hospital is fully equipped with an enclosed surgical suite, ultrasound, digital radiography, paperless medical records, CO2 laser, tonopen, and much more. We provide thorough dentistry with full mouth radiographs on every case. We provide general and emergency surgery services including cystotomy, splenectomy, foreign body removal through gastrotomy and/or enterotomy, gastropexy, and wound repair among others.
